The excursions are divided in different degrees of difficulty: Musk Ox Safari - The trip offers you ample opportunity to see these magnificent musk oxen that live in the area of Kangerlussuaq. If lucky, you may also catch sight of other remarkable animals. Sisimiut Town Walk - Explore and learn about the history and all the stories of Sisimiut on the way to the old part of the town. Visit the Sisimiut Museum, housed in the beautiful old buildings originating from the colonial period. Hiking - On a guided hike through Sisimiut, you'll be able to visit some old ruins, and also to experience the modern Greenland. On Teleøen, formerly known as Tømmermandsøen you will find culture-historical monuments of the past, which date back to the culture of Saqqaq 2500 BC and up until today. Qeqertarsuaq Town walk - Walk through the town, pass through old buildings of trade and administration, catch sight of 'Our Lord's Little Ink Pot' the octagonal church, get a vivid impression of the hunters' society, and visit to the museum to get an illustration the town's history. Hike in Blæsedalen (The Valley of the Winds) - The hike starts from the Womens House over to Røde elv (the Red River) through Blæsedalen. On the way, pass by Skarvefjeld (Mountain of the Cormorant), go through a characteristic mountain heath, and see a great deal of the flora so particular to Disko. A nice waterfall marks the end of the hike. Dog Sledging - Hike up to the Lyngmark Glacier, where the snow is lying white and tempting. Once you are on the glacier, you have the option of going on a dog sled trip in the summer sun with experienced drivers and then walk back to the starting point of this trip. Uummannaq- Ukkusissat Hike to Santa's Summer Cabin - Walk up through Uummannaq town, and go behind the town where we hike through a light hilly terrain to Santa's Cabin. Once reaching the cabin, you may leave your Christmas wish at his cabin. From the Cabin you have a marvelous view of the Sea towards Nuussuaq Peninsula. Lunch - Enjoy your lunch while enjoying the splendid view in the comfortable Uummannaq hotel. Sail to the Red Desert - Sail with the local ship among the magnificent icebergs across the fjord and a local guide will show you the beautiful spots on your way to the red desert. Hike to Qilakitsoq and the Grave of the Mummies - Visit the burial site of the 500 year old mummies discovered in Qilaktsoq, an ancient Inuit settlement on the Muussuaq peninsula. Today the mummies are on display in the National museum in the capital Nuuk. Ukkusissat Settlement Visit - On this guided visit we will sense the living of a small settlement. There will be different activities in the settlement, and the explanation and information of Ukkusissat will take place on the ship. |
Eqip Sermia Ilulissat Boat Trip in the Icefjord - Sail in the traditional red cutters to the estuary where the gigantic icebergs in the northern part of the fjord have stranded. There are good possibilities for seal watching. Helicopter to the Icecap - On this excursion we will fly close to the glacier and land on the rock at Kangia with a view over the glacier and the ice cap. Then after grounding for 30 minutes, we will fly again until we reach the icebergs stranded at the estuary of the Ice fjord and enjoy a magnificent view of the deep ice foot under the iceberg and the turquoise sea. Hike to Sermermiut - Guided hike to the ancient settlement of Sermermiut and visit the Old woman's cliff. On the way to Sermermiut we will stop for a Greenlandic dog presentation.
