THE RUSSIAN BORDER
The guide meets us at the quay and takes us through today’s programme.
You start with a test drive in a low traffic area, before going up to
the viewpoint ”Kjerringstupet”, near to Kirkenes. We then drive along
the road through the town centre and stop at a viewpoint overlooking the
A/S Sydvaranger mines.
See where east meets west
From here we continue to the Norwegian – Russian border where your guide
will
tell you about the history and culture of the area. We will make a stop
at the border station to have coffee/tea and muffins. Finally we return
to Kirkenes via the viewpoint at Prestfjellet Mountain, with its
magnificent views of both the town and your Hurtigruten ship.
